Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Lalitpur was established with the chairmanship of Mr. Dharma Ratna Shakya and has been running successfully today. It has been leading the Press and Expression freedom as well as the democratic movements in Nepal. This federation supports as the common point for all the professional journalists. Having started with very few members, it directly peaked to it height in the 10th District Session held on 8th of Baishakh, 2074, the firm had collected the membership of 570 members. Therefore, Lalitpur Branch could establish itself as the second largest branch of Nepal.

Freedom of press and expression, conservation of working journalists as well as democratic movements in the country are the sectors where the federation is playing major role. In addition to that, through the medium of press, the federation has been claiming the voice of local people and topics of local concern.

Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Lalitpur is the member of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX). Being the umbrella organization for the working Nepali journalists, this federation aims to protect the press freedom and promote it. Moreover, by creating an environment for providing professional and physical protection to the working journalists, the federation also aims to freely implement the freedom of press and expression in Nepal. In addition to that, the organization firmly protects democracy, human rights and international relationships. FNJ has been and will always be working for the protection of Right of information to the people.
